Clearview Alpaca Farm is nestled in the rural area of Essex County. We are located within 30 minutes of Richmond Virginia and just minutes from the Rappahannock River. The farm is made up of 250 acres of farmland, pastures, woods, creeks and the happiest alpacas around. Donna and Guerry Higgason became proud alpaca owners in 2005. Donna grew up on a farm with a wide array of animals and Guerry is a city boy that has learned to love the country life. Guerry is retired and gives the alpacas 24/7 attention hardly ever leaving the farm. Donna works full time owning a real estate appraisal company and managing the day to day activities related to that business. Our farm manager, Melanie Hundley Sisson, handles the halter training, feeding, medical, birthing and overall day to day activities while our farmhand Zachary Coyne handles clean-up.
Our goal is quality not quantity. Each alpaca on our farm is well halter trained, a ribbon winner and given special attention every single day. Our animals are well nurtured with great regard to high quality hay and replanted rotated pastures annually. Not having any children of our own, we feel that our animals are our children and take great pride in their overall health, fleece, show ribbons and most of all that they feel truly loved and are well cared for. We offer continuous and extensive support to our customers. We welcome farm visitors and would love to just talk “alpaca” with anyone interested. We think our friends may be tired of it. Come visit our farm anytime, get sweet alpaca kisses and spend a day in the country.
Clearview Alpaca Farm competes in almost all of the Level 4 and Level 5 Shows especially on the East Coast. We encourage all new breeders to get into the showing part of this business and we take great pride in the fact that we Champion at almost every show. We may be small but we are mighty. I love the small farm feel with the better than large farm quality of animals.
